Players can get involved by downloading the source code of the binary files and giving the game a try. Initially there may be some problems, such as the code being very buggy. The code is currently not even in Alpha release, so expect crashes constantly, however, if you're willing to give a new game a try, and do a little bug testing at the same time, download the game and give it a try.
